LONDON PACKING LIST

Kensington Gardens

If you need help to check your London packing list, you’re in the right place. Today we are listing the seasonal must have for your trip to London.

We prepared for you a one-week packing list taking into account one carry on bag space. If you’re spending a few days in Lonodn this would probably be the cheapest and most functional solution. Just select your season and follow our tips 🙂

LONDON IN WINTER

Winters in London can be pretty cold and rainy. Air can be freezing and humidity level raises a lot. We went to London at Christmas but we’ve been lucky. It rained only one day out of six. The rest of our holiday was sunny, yet cold. If you’re looking for some magical atmospheare, this could be the most wonderful time of the year 😉

Here’s your London packing list for winter:

Top clothing
  • Warm sweaters. They’re perfect for both indoor and outdoor destinations. Our suggestion is dressing in layers so that you can easily adjust to different temperatures.
  • Coat/ jacket to protect yourself from cold wind.
  • Scarf/ hat/ gloves. You definetely won’t like spending your holiday with a flu or a fever so make sure not to be cold outside. Also, do not exagerate with heating once you get in your hotel/apartment.
  • Thermal clothes. We used them everyday under usual clothes. They’ll prevent you from freezing, especially if you’re planning to spend a lot of time outdoor (we toured the city by bike so it was very cold!). You don’t have to buy a complete thermal wardrobe 😉 You’ll just need 1/2 thermal shirts to be put under your clothes. And, if you like, you can get a pair of leggins too.
Bottom clothing
  • Jeans. They’re perfect for every situation. You might also choose to bring thermal leggins with you just in case.
  • Comfortable shoes. In your London tour you might have to walk a lot, to get on buses, undergrounds and so on. Your shoes must be as comfortable as possible. Weather you like boots or sneackers, make sure to be 100% comfortable. If you have any waterproof boot you could also use that.
Do not forget…
  • Umbrella or k-way. These are must in London. It starts raining all of a sudden so you must always bring an umbrella with you. In some places you’re not allowed in with an umbrella (also on the plane) so you can bring a k-way.
  •  Valid credit card. Some standard cards such as VISA and MAESTRO should work also in UK. On the contrary, BANCOMAT are not always accepted. Make sure to have a valid credit card and, if needed, bring some money to change them into pounds at your arrival.
  •  Underground cards. To save some money, you should buy a Oyster Card before moving to UK. In this post you will find more info about it. You’ll also see many tips and tricks to plan your holiday in London (where to go, what to see, where to eat…)
